The imam who witnessed Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan“s swearing on the Quran to accuse Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising him has cast doubts on the oath.

With less than a day to campaign in the Permatang Pauh by-election, observers noted that the Barisan Nasional“s strongest point of attack against the former deputy prime minister has been blunted.

This means the public confession by Ramlang Porigi, the imam of the Kuala Lumpur mosque, made in Permatang Pauh late last night has freed Anwar from having to take the same Quranic vow to prove his innocence.

Suruhanjaya DiRaja yang menyiasat skandal klip video Lingam mengesyorkan supaya mantan perdana menteri Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad dan lima orang lagi disiasat berhubung peranan mereka dalam pelantikan hakim-hakim.

Lima tokoh tersebut - dua bekas ketua hakim negara, Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim dan Tun Eusoff Chin, peguam kanan Datuk VK Lingam, bekas menteri pelancongan Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor yang juga setiausaha agung Umno serta tokoh perniagaan Tan Sri Vincent Tan.

Suruhanjaya itu mengesyorkan supaya mereka disiasat bawah Akta Hasutan, Akta Rahsia Rasmi (OSA), Kanun Keseksaan dan kerana menghalang proses keadilan.

Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri Datuk Zaid Ibrahim berkata hari ini bahawa kabinet telah mengarahkan Pejabat Peguam Negara untuk memulakan siasatan secepat mungkin terhadap keenam-enam mereka.

Sebelum itu, Zaid berkata kerajaan memutuskan untuk mengumumkan laporan suruhanjaya diraja itu.

Orang ramai boleh membeli laporan tersebut mulai minggu depan pada harga RM542.10 senaskhah.
