Saiful Gives Statement To Jawi

Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 23, who has accused Parti Keadilan Rakyat advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising him, gave a statement on the allegation to the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) Tuesday.

Mohd Saiful Bukhari at JAWIAccording to Bernama, he was dressed in a blue shirt and black pants and he wore a songkok when he arrived at the Jawi office at 10am. He was accompanied by his father, Azlan Mohd Lazim, and lawyer, Zamri Idris and escorted by police officers in plainclothes.

Saiful is believed to have been called by Jawi to give a statement relating to his sodomy allegation.

After spending more than three hours with Jawi officers, Saiful was taken away in a silver Proton Waja at 1.15pm. He left the Jawi office through the back exit without speaking to reporters who were waiting outside the building.

Saiful Swears Anwar Sodomised Him

Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan appeared in public today to swear on the Quran and denied he had consented to the alleged anal intercourse with Anwar Ibrahim. He has swore on the Quran at the Federal Territory Mosque in Jalan Duta here today that the sodomy had indeed taken place.

Saiful Azlan ZamriHe performed the swearing before an imam at 6.15pm. The swearing process ended about 15 minutes later.

He was accompanied by his father and police personnel. The swearing ceremony was witnessed by some 30 people, including representatives of the media and members of his family.

Mohd Saiful, Anwar’s former aide, prior to today, had pledged that he would swear on the Quran about the alleged misdeed by Anwar.

Court Orders Raja Petra To Reveal Sources

A Malaysian high court has ordered a prominent political blogger to reveal his sources used in articles that alleged sodomy accusations against opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim were fabricated, a lawyer said Thursday.

Raja PetraOnline commentator Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin had in three articles posted on his blog implied that lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah was behind the sodomy accusations by Anwar’s 23-year-old aide.

Muhammad Shafee told The Associated Press he obtained the court order Wednesday against Raja Petra, ordering him to reveal the sources of the three articles published this month, and the identities of those who commented on them.

The court also ordered him to remove the articles and all comments within two days and refrain from publishing similar allegations, Muhammad Shafee said.

Anwar Charged, Out On Bond

Eight years and one day shy of his first sodomy conviction, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim again denied another similar accusation today when he was charged for having carnal intercourse against the order of nature at the Sessions Criminal Court 1.

Komathy Suppiah allowed Anwar to be released on a personal bond set at RM20,000 without surety after his defence lawyers pleaded for him to be released on personal bond under Section 388 (ii) of the Criminal Procedure Code while the prosecution argued for bail to be set at RM20,000. The judge set mention of the case for Sept 10.

Anwar Press Statement On Sodomy Charges

To this date, the evidence of phantom voters and ballot box stuffing has yet to be addressed by the Election Commission. The poor handling of the use of indelible ink in the General Elections gives all Malaysians, particularly those in Permatang Pauh, reason to be concerned about the conduct of polling this month. I urge the Election Commission to take this opportunity to restore some credibility to its reputation by fulfilling its constitutional mandate to ensure that voting is fair and unbiased. Anwar To Be Charged For Sodomy

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be charged for sodomy when he turns up at the Jalan Duta sessions courts tomorrow after police took a civil approach today and served him with a subpoena to appear in court. In a similar sequence of events 10 years ago, balaclava-clad elite policemen arrested him and detained him under the Internal Security Act before preferring charges.

Jalan Duta CourtsHis court appearance will come a day after the Election Commission decided that the Permatang Pauh by-election will be held on Aug 26 which Anwar said he will contest.

A police team led by DSP Jude Pereira served the subpoena just a little after noon today when they turned up at his Bukit Segambut house, which is incidentally near the Jalan Duta courts.

Anwar is scheduled to hold a press conference later at 3pm and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) officials said it could be related to a sodomy charge. He is currently speaking to his lawyers, according to lawyer Sankara Nair. Read the rest of this entry »
