The Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (MES) has set the new dates for the public examinations to be held this year. The new schedules are as follows;
Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR)
Date: 9, 10, 11 September 2008
Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR)
Date: 13, 14, 15 Oktober 2008 and 4, 5 November
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
Date: 12 November - 6 Disember 2008
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Ulangan (SPMU)
Date: 24, 25 Jun 2008
Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM)
Date: 20, 21, 22, 28, 29 Oktober 2008
Previously, the UPSR was held in early September, PMR in early October and SPM in November. The push for new dates is part of efforts to reduce truancy among students after the examinations are held.
