Japan Scholarships 2011

The Japanese government scholarships for the academic year 2011 are open for application from March 1 to 31.

The Japanese embassy said  that eligible Malaysians who are in interested to pursue their studies in Japan in undergraduate and postgraduate studies are invited to apply for the scholarships.

A monthly allowance of 125,000 yen (RM4,675) will be given for undergraduate studies and 152,000 yen (RM5,685) for postgraduate studies, besides a round-trip airplane ticket.

Applicants for the undergraduate progamme, which will take between five and seven years starting April 2011, must be between 17 and 22 years old and must have completed the SPM or O-Level with at least 11 years of formal education.

STPM students and those who sat for the A-Level, UEC, Matriculation or Diploma examination this year may also apply. Applicants must have good command of English with excellent results is other major subjects.

The postgraduates programme will take one-and-a-half years to two years to complete and applicants must be under 35 years old and a degree holder. Undergraduates who are in the final year at their respective universities are eligible to apply.

Applicants for the postgraduate programme, who are civil servants, must apply through the Public Service Department (PSD). Further information can be obtained at JPA (03-8885 3555 : Ms Nor Hasaliza).

Application forms can be collected from the Japan embassy or printed out from the embassy’s website at www.my.emb-japan.go.jp.

Interested applicants can visit the embassy’s education counsellor at the Japan Information Centre at 1st Floor, Embassy of Japan, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to noon or call 03-2177 2600 for more information on the scholarships.
